Project Description

This custom home sits on a stunning wooded lot in heart of Fox Chapel. The homeowners are avid gardeners that were very interested in plant selections but also wanted to incorporate the stone facade of the house into their outdoor patios, walkways and driveway. The job also included an extensive deer fence, edible garden, many interesting trees shrubs and perennials, outdoor lighting and a natural stone staircase.

The driveway used Belgium block and exposed aggregate, with 3 tire “bumper” strips leading up to the gated entrance. The 7 foot pillars used the stone on the facade of the house and house a custom sandstone cap and large lights.

The 3 patios used a golden flagstone that looked like it was made for this home. The large symmetrical pattern fit the scale of the home very nicely. The patio outside of the breakfast room features the house stone one a long, centered seat wall with the kitchen doors. This patio connects to a flagstone pathway to the front door, a pathway to the driveway outside of the gate, and a natural stone staircase to the lower yard. On the other side of this central patio is the pathway to the secondary front entrance and garage.
